Don’t worry. If you don’t see your recent progress in House Flipper 2 or the game is not loading your profile at all, it doesn’t mean the files are gone. Most likely, during your last playthrough, the game faced a disruption while it was saving your progress. In cases like this, there’s a folder with a backup, and here we’ll teach you how to run it.
For consoles - We do not store player saves. The only way to reload progress or profile is to download it from the PlayStation Plus or Xbox cloud.
How to restore the profile/house from the backup.
1.) Make sure House Flipper 2 is closed.
2.) Find a Profiles folder.
This folder stores your current save files. To find it, just paste the path shown below into the location bar in the File Explorer program or Windows tab, like below:
| %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Frozen District\House Flipper 2 |
3.) Find a Profiles.backup folder right next to the previous Profiles folder.
This folder stores your backed-up save files. The game makes a safe copy of your main save file every time you play House Flipper 2 for more than 60 minutes. It means you shouldn't lose more than 1 hour of progress.
Important! The game keeps only three backups: two refreshed every hour of gameplay, and one dedicated to the previous day of playing.
4.) Open the Profiles.backup folder. Inside, you’ll find other folders, but now with dates and hours in their names. Those are the dates of the last backup. Look for the one you are interested in.
Instead of names, your game profiles are marked with a number. Starting from 0 for your first created profile, followed by 1, 2, etc. for later ones. Don’t mind that all folders have the same modification date. Once you start browning files in them, you’ll note that each has its own date correlating with your actions in the game.
E.g.. If you created a house in Sandbox mode on August 28th at 8 PM, the file’s modification date reflects this.
5.) Copy ALL the content of the folder you’re interested in. Alternatively, for Sandbox or Story mode houses, copy only the files that broke while saving.
6.) Go back to the Profiles folder in the main game location, then to the folder with a profile where you lost your progress. Use only the profile with the same number as the profile in the backup folder.
7.) Delete all the files inside, then paste the copied files from the Backup folder there.
Here's an example scenario:
You lost your progress on Profile 0. You start from the Profiles.backup folder and open Profile 0, then the backup folder with the latest date and time. You mark all the files inside (or the entire folder) and copy them. Go back to the main game folder, then open Profiles folder and find the profile folder you lost your progress on - in this example, it’s Profile 0. You delete all the files in this Profile 0 folder and paste all the files you’ve just copied.
8.) Launch House Flipper 2 and check if everything works correctly.
Done!
